Your Hosts

When Craig and Jorge bought their house in Condesa twenty years ago they had no idea that it would become Mexico City’s number one B and B. It was an accident. It started with one room rented on Craigs List that brought fun, interesting people, many who remain our friends today. Every guest was important and everyone was treated like a visiting friend. In the beginning there was no breakfast but there was always wine and conversation in the evening. The Red Tree House has grown but the tradition of hospitality continues. In their years of hosting they have learned many lessons and have honed their
hospitality skills.  You will often hear them saying, “We don’t just rent rooms, we provide an experience.”

Happy Hour with guests

The nicest and most interesting people stay with us, and many friendships have begun over a glass of wine and a lively conversation.  We love our regular guests who return year after year to renew the friendships made at The Red Tree House.

A little history
behind the house

Built in 1930s, The Red Tree House has a history of artistic and creative occupants including the author Paco Tibauld, painters Oscar and Liliana Gutman, architect
Francisco Rincon, and most famously the Mexican actress Ofelia Medina who’s portrait hangs over the fireplace. She is known for playing Frida Kahlo in the popular Mexican
film "Frida, Naturaleza Viva" in 1983. It has always been and remains today a house where friends gather.
